Vocal Director, Vocals Andy grew up in Chino Hills, California and graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a degree in Vocal Performance. He produced and contracted vocals for volumes one, two, and three of The Ethnos Project. He recently worked as vocal producer and songwriter for the debut album of a Latina sister duo, Genessis and Nikki. Andy, alongside cowriters Genessis and Nikki Holguin and Phil Silas, has been nominated for a 2018 Dove Award for their song "Dame Más." He has served as a vocalist for various InterVarsity/USA student conferences throughout Southern California. |
Vocals Becky's musical roots took shape during her early years while growing up in San Diego, California. She later studied at Mira Costa Community College and graduated from California State University at San Marcos. Becky, a Greek staff member with InterVarsity/USA, has been on staff for five years. |
Music Producer, Guitar A graduate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Colin served as an InterVarsity/USA Student Evangelism Area Coordinator and small group leader. He plays the guitar and keyboard, records and mixes audio, and has led worship for seven years. Colin is producer and arranger for the Urbana 18 worship music album. |
Vocals Danielle grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and serves as Executive Director of InterVarsity Canada's Circle Square Ranch. She has been an InterVarsity Canada staff member for 10 years, has led worship in Canada and China, and recently served as a vocalist for the 2017 InterVarsity Canada National Staff Conference. |
Music Director, Keyboard A Southern California native, Eben studied music at Westmont College in Santa Barbara and theology at Fuller Seminary in Pasadena. He now directs music and worship for Westmont's chapel program. Eben attended Urbana 12 and 15 and is excited to serve as music director for Urbana 18. |
Trumpet, Flugelhorn Raised in Lorain, Ohio, Edwin has a passion for cultural diversity that has led him to partner with InterVarsity/USA to lead multiethnic worship for many conferences, including Urbana 06 and 09. He has performed with many iconic artists, including Salvador, Jaci Velasquez, TobyMac, and Kirk Franklin. Currently, Edwin serves as the Director of Music and Worship at the Crossings Church and is also a band leader and sought-after studio musician. |
Worship Director, Vocals Considering both Birmingham, Alabama and Lake Charles, Louisiana to be his hometowns, Eric moved out west to study at San Diego Christian College in 2000. While there, he began touring nationally and internationally with a college performance group called Legacy. In 2002, he became Program Arts Director at Ethnos Community Church, where he was first introduced to InterVarsity/USA. Since 2002, Eric has been actively involved with leading worship for a variety of InterVarsity/USA events, including the Los Angeles Urban Program and The Real (a Black Campus Ministries conference), as well as staff and student conferences. His work through The Ethnos Project and the Ethnos Network has led him to strategic partnerships around the world, including Japan, Greece, and South Africa. |
Bass As a native of San Diego, California who studied music at Palomar College, Ernie began playing bass at 15 and discovered his passion for the instrument while traveling throughout Southern California playing for various gospel choirs. He's currently a bassist at his local church in Carlsbad, California. |
Vocals Jenn, raised in Los Angeles, California, studied abroad at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. She currently serves as an Area Director in Central California for InterVarsity/USA where she's been a staff member for eight years. Jenn is a graduate of San Diego State University and has 10 years of experience leading worship. |
Team Administrator, Guest Soloist Julia Carbajal is a Filipinx-American musician and worship leader, born and raised in San Diego, California, USA. Passionate about creativity and collaboration, she has spent the last 4 years leading in university spaces across the U.S. She is currently the Music Director at The Center, a bilingual English/Spanish church in Escondido, CA. Whether through music or hospitality, she is grateful for the opportunity to connect with members of her local and global communities. |
Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet At the internationally renowned Interlochen Arts Academy, Meg discovered her love for improvisation and began to write her own music, often incorporating beatbox flute. She has played with many famous jazz artists, including Christian McBride, Anat Cohen, and Peter Bernstein. After graduating from college, Meg joined the prize-winning Beta Quartet, giving concerts and workshops nationwide. In 2017, she released her first single, "Silky Way.” |
Vocals In her hometown of Tijuana, Mexico, Melissa began leading worship as a 12-year-old. She graduated from Universidad Autónoma de Baja California and has been a State Staff member for IFES/Compa in Baja, California, for three-and-a-half years. Melissa gifted the song "Debemos Decir y Hacer" to Urbana 15 and has led worship for IFES World Assembly and many InterVarsity/USA conferences. |
Percussion Melissa is a singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, and music producer. She has served at the IFES World Assembly, the Lausanne Movement's Younger Leaders Gathering, and Urbana 09 and 12. Melissa lives out her passion for missions by mobilizing others through worship and as CEO of the Reach Someone Foundation, which seeks to provide people with better quality of life and the knowledge of God's love. |
Drums, Team Chaplain Roy and his wife have been InterVarsity/ USA ministry partners for over five years, and he has led worship for many student conferences. Roy works as a corporate chaplain/staff care consultant in the marketplace. He is currently a Doctorate of Ministry degree candidate at Fuller Theological Seminary and has a Master's in Applied Ministry from Bethel Seminary. |
Keys, Guitar, Vocals Having served as a staff member with InterVarsity/USA for two years, Shawn is originally from Arcadia, California. He studied Popular Music at University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. Shawn, an Indonesian American, is a worship leader in his hometown and works as a freelance musician. |
Flute, Keyboard Originally from Long Island, New York, flutist, pianist, and teaching artist Stacey Chou attended college at the Eastman School of Music and graduate school at the Longy School of Music. She currently resides in the Boston area, where she actively performs and maintains a private studio, in addition to performing with the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast and the flute quintet, In Radiance. Stacey serves on the Worship Team and College Ministry at her church, Boston Chinese Evangelical Church, and also InterVarsity's Harvard-Radcliffe Asian American Christian Fellowship. |
Vocals Tinika, from South Los Angeles, California, attended the University of Southern California and is a graduate of San Diego Christian College. She began singing in church as a teenager and has since become a recording artist, touring throughout the U.S., Africa, and Asia. Tinika has been a worship leader within InterVarsity/USA for six years. |
Choir Director, Guest Soloist Todd has served on staff with InterVarsity for seven years, working with international students first at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and now the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign. International student ministry, along with leading worship in diverse settings, has given him a heart for hospitality and crossing cultures, and he is passionate about helping the church be a place where all people can feel welcomed and flourish. In his spare time, you might catch him playing soccer, reading the Wheel of Time books, or cooking a new recipe from around the world! |
